Vegan BBQ Sauce

Vegan BBQ Sauce

This easy vegan BBQ sauce is a flavorful, health-conscious choice for enhancing your meals. Rich in antioxidants from the smoked paprika and garlic powder, it supports overall health and immune function. Apple cider vinegar and maple syrup provide beneficial nutrients like potassium and vitamins, while the sauce remains low in fat and cholesterol-free. Ideal for adding a tasty kick to grilled veggies and plant-based proteins, this BBQ sauce combines health benefits with delicious flavor.

Ingredients

1 cup Ketchup

1/2 cup Apple Cider Vinegar

1/4 cup Maple Syrup or agave nectar

1/4 cup Brown Sugar

2 tbsp Soy Sauce or Tamari

1 tbsp Smoked Paprika

1 tbsp Yellow Mustard

1/2 tsp Garlic Powder

1/2 tsp Onion Powder

1/4 tsp Black Pepper

1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper (optional, for heat)

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, combine all the ingredients: ketchup, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, brown sugar, soy sauce, smoked paprika, yellow mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).

Heat the saucepan over medium heat, stirring frequently. Once the mixture starts to bubble, reduce the heat to low. Simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.

Taste the BBQ sauce and adjust the seasoning if needed. You can add more maple syrup for sweetness, more vinegar for tanginess, or more cayenne pepper for extra heat.

Allow the BBQ sauce to cool before transferring it to a clean jar or container with a lid. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Use this BBQ sauce to brush on grilled veggies, tofu, or tempeh, or as a dipping sauce for your favorite snacks.
