Ingredients

3-1/4 cups (360g) All-Purpose Flour

1-1/2 tsp Salt

1 tsp Active Dry Yeast

1-1/2 cups (360ml) Warm Water

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast. Add the warm water and stir for

4-5 minutes until the dough thickens. Ensure all the flour is incorporated.

First Rise:

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and let it sit at room temperature for 1-2 hours, or until the dough has doubled in size and is bubbly.

Shape the Dough:

Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a well-floured surface. With floured hands, gently shape it into a round or oval loaf. There’s no need to knead the dough; just shape it.

Second Rise:

Place the shaped dough on a piece of floured parchment paper and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise additionally for about 30-60 minutes while you preheat your oven.

Preheat the Oven:

About 30 minutes before you’re ready to bake, preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Place a Dutch oven (or any large, heavy oven-safe pot with a lid) inside the oven to preheat as well for 10 minutes.

Bake the Bread:

Carefully remove the preheated Dutch oven from the oven. Lift the dough using the parchment paper and place it (with the parchment paper) into the hot pot. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and crusty.

Cool the Bread:

Remove the bread from the pot and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing, for at least 1-2 hours or longer. Cooling helps set the crumb and ensures the bread is not gummy inside.
