Fluffy Quinoa

This perfectly fluffy, dry quinoa is light, separate, and has a rice-like texture, making it ideal for bowls, stir-fries, and meal prep. By using a lower water ratio and a simple simmering technique, each grain cooks evenly without becoming mushy. Enjoy this easy, foolproof method for a nutritious and versatile side dish!

Ingredients

1 cup Quinoa

1-1/2 cups Water

1/2 tsp Salt (optional)

1/2 tsp Olive Oil or Vegan Butter (optional, for flavor)

Instructions

Use a fine mesh strainer and rinse under running water for 30 seconds to remove bitterness.

Dry-toast the quinoa in a medium saucepan over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Pour in 1½ cups of water, add salt if using, and bring to a boil.

Once boiling, reduce heat to low and let it simmer without covering for about 8-10 minutes, until the water is mostly absorbed.

Turn off the heat, cover with a lid, and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then, fluff with a fork for the perfect dry quinoa.

Pro Tip: If you want it extra dry, spread the quinoa on a plate or baking sheet for a couple of minutes before serving.
