Blueberry chia seed jam combines plump blueberries with nutrient-rich chia seeds, resulting in a lusciously thick and fruity spread. This easy recipe requires just a handful of ingredients and a simple stovetop simmer, yielding a deliciously homemade jam bursting with natural flavors and wholesome goodness.
Ingredients
2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
2 tablespoons chia seeds
2 tablespoons agave nectar (adjust to taste)
1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, for added tartness)
Instructions
In a saucepan, heat the blueberries over medium heat until they start to break down and release their juices, about 5-7 minutes.
Mash the blueberries with a fork or potato masher to your desired consistency.
Stir in the chia seeds and agave nectar. If using, add lemon juice for added tartness.
Continue to cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently until the mixture thickens to a jam-like consistency.
Remove from heat and let it cool. The jam will thicken further as it cools.
Transfer the jam into a clean, sterilized jar and store it in the refrigerator.
It will keep for about 1-2 weeks.
Sounds so easy and delicious! Can't wait to make it when summer blueberries are available. Yum!
